Innovative e-learning, virtual platforms for student-teacher interaction and social media networking open up exciting new ways of learning. Practical skills are taught through placements in healthcare facilities and through hands-on exercises in well equipped, lifelike simulation laboratories.

Course pathways

Applicants who have completed a Certificate III or IV qualification in some healthcare disciplines may be entitled to advanced standing toward their Diploma of Nursing, which is the qualification required to become an Enrolled Nurse (EN, Division 2). Those who have already completed a Diploma of Nursing can upgrade their qualification to an Advanced Diploma in an area of nursing specialisation, providing additional opportunities for career advancement and enhanced employability in specific settings. Partner universities offer advanced standing toward a Bachelor of Nursing, which is the qualification required in order to become a Registered Nurse (RN, Division 1).

The Diploma of Nursing training course is designed to build the knowledge and skills required to practice as an Enrolled (Division 2) nurse in Australia. Enrolled nurses work under the direction and supervision of a Registered nurse to provide curative, acute, preventive and rehabilitative care to patients.

The Registered Nurse Refresher Program allows registered nurses to update and refresh their knowledge and competency in acute care nursing. This program has been developed for nurses who wish to enter into the acute care setting, or who would want to move from one role to another, like management, education, or research to clinical practice. This program has the added advantage of allowing nurses to develop their skills in an acute care environment, while continuing to work in aged care.
